Date of event: Saturday 13th and Sunday 14 February 2010 at Bargate and Above Bar in Southampton City Centre
For the first time in years, Valentine's weekend and Chinese New Year have come together. This coming new Chinese Year will be the "YEAR OF THE TIGER"...
Launch of Valentine's Weekend (festival of Love) and Chinese New Year celebrations 2010, which will be broadcast "LIVE" on PlayRadio, will take place on Above Bar precinct at 11am on Saturday 13th February.
The launch will include a performance of the famous Chinese Lion Dance to formally open the weekend. Market stalls will be selling valentine gifts and Chinese gifts all weekend and on Saturday evening there will be a funfair at Bargate for all the family to enjoy...
On the Sunday, there will be a Chinese Dragon Dance parade starting from the Civic Centre and running down through Above Bar and West Quay Shopping Centre, then down through the Bargate and onto East Street, High Street and down to Town Quay.
The Saturday launch will be in the presence of our Town Crier, Hon.John Melody and
