The new LTP is the centrepiece of the County Council's transport policy framework. It emphasises the importance of highway maintenance, alongside the need for transport networks to be reliable in order to support economic activity. The Plan is set out in two parts: Part A, the Long-Term Strategy, provides the long-term vision and strategic direction for transport within Hampshire up to 2031 Part B, the Implementation Plan sets out which transport improvements we intend to deliver over the next three years to support the long-term vision. The previous Local Transport Plans provided a solid foundation on which to develop this new LTP, however, unlike those plans this Plan has been developed within the context of a more constrained funding climate for transport improvements. This will require hard decisions to be made during the lifetime of this Plan. The new LTP will seek to secure investment for transport infrastructure from a range of different sources and the County Council will continue to focus upon the maintenance of our highway network. Through this work and the vital work which Hampshire CC undertake with partners, Hampshire CC are confident that the new LTP will not only help to drive the economy of Hampshire, but play a pivotal role in improving the quality of life for all those who live and work within the County.
